Meet Jan Reichmuth

Meet Jan Reichmuth!

  • Number of Years in Real Estate: Since September 2003
  • Number of Years with Schaffer: Seven years in May 2017
  • What do you like about working at Schaffer: We have two very experienced owners/partners as well as a great mix of fun loving agents! Everyone here is more than happy to help one another.
  • What do you enjoy about being a REALTOR®: Whether they are old clients or new, I like the excitement that comes with searching for just the right property with my clients and finding it!
  • What do you love about Lodi: Its central location.  Aside from being the beautiful town it is with numerous restaurants and wineries, Lodi is centrally located to the Bay Area, Sacramento and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There is always something fun going on!
  • Favorite memory working at Schaffer: Favorite memory would have to be when I started here and how kind and helpful everyone was and still is! I can’t think of ever working any other place.
  • Best piece of advice you’ve ever received: Best piece of advice I ever received would have to be the word NEXT! Spoken by someone with many more years in the business. Because in this business try as hard as you can, not all transactions turn out the way you would like. Thank goodness those are few and far between!
  • Favorite quote: “Laughter is the best medicine” and “Always do the best you can”

Meet Chris Phelps!

  • Number of Years in Real Estate: 11 years
  • Number of Years with Schaffer: 11 years
  • What do you like about working for Schaffer: I love that we all get along so well.  But I also love to tell people that Margo and Nancy took me in when I knew absolutely nothing about business, fresh out of RE school, with no business background.  They took me under their wing, held me by the hand and helped me every step along the way.  They still do 🙂  I’ve told them I have no desire to go anywhere else.
  • What do you enjoy about being a REALTOR®: My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is the connection with people.  It’s quite an undertaking to sell or buy a home.  When someone asks me to guide them in those steps, it is a true privilege.  We become attached at the hip during the process, and then may not see each other for a time after.  I like to give them time to get settled, then give them a call a month or so later just to check in and see how they’re doing.
  • What do you love about Lodi: It’s where family is, but I also love that everyone in Lodi knows one another, or you know someone who knows someone.  We’re all very connected.  I also love our quaint little neighborhoods that are so nicely manicured and well-kept- People take pride in their property. I also love to tell people that I meet from other areas that we are the Zinfandel Capital of the World- They usually don’t know that.  And I love all of our small boutique wineries that were once barely known, and are now all over the US and beyond.
  • Favorite memory of working at Schaffer: My favorite memory is coming into the office right after I started at Schaffer.  Margo taught me the ropes.  Like I said I knew nothing.  She taught me how to search properties on MLS; how to show property and how to hold open houses.  The scariest was when I had to call an agent and ask about a property.  I felt so unsure of myself, but eventually started getting the hang of it.  I’ll be forever grateful for her help.  And now I still need her or Nancy’s advice or knowledge.  They are always there for me.
  • Best piece of advice you’ve ever received: Best advice I received was from my husband, Dan.  He suggested I get my real estate license.  That caught me by surprise but I truly love what I do now and have never regretted it.
  • Favorite quote: My favorite quote is from the movie “League of Their Own”.  Tom Hanks tells Gina Davis “It’s the hard that makes it great” in referring to playing baseball, but it’s so true about life in general, too.

Tree Intrusion

Finding it Hard to Love Thy Neighbor?

Trees play a huge part of a majority of Lodi homes. Trees provide a little extra landscaping to a home, beautiful colors in the fall, and shade during the summertime. But what happens when a neighbor’s leaves begin to clog your gutters? Or if the trees cause large amounts of debris and leaves on your front lawn or in your backyard? What if your neighbor has solar panels on his roof and a tree on your property is shading the solar panels? In this case, are you required to cut down your tree?

Find the answer to these questions and many more here.
